Hoje entreguei o meu trabalho prático para a disciplina 4B15: “Why is the Internet not made of Bridges?”
Segue um pequeno resumo: The main goal of a LAN is to convey data between computers within a single building or a small campus. Therefore, this type of network was designed to be constrained to a geographically limited area. This has implications in the scalability of this type of networks, namely related with the addressing scheme used and the spanning tree protocol. MAC addressing scheme is flat, host-based, and for that reason not scalable. Spanning tree protocol problems are related with convergence time and with intrinsic problems of a single tree topology: the flowing of traffic is restricted to a single tree, and it has a single point of failure.
